I've finally finished compiling the combined spellings for England and Wales, and there are a few interesting results.
Over the last few years, much has been made about the fact that, when all the spellings were added together, Mohammed became the number one name in England and Wales. But, as of 2010, all the spellings of Mohammed combined weren't enough to beat the huge popularity of Oliver, pushing it down to second place.
For girls, Lily again reigns supreme with her multitude of spellings including Lili, Lilee, Lillie, Lilly, Lilie and Lilli. Isabelle, and all her variants, also makes a big leap up to third place.

There some surprising new entries into the top 100 this year. Leighton (#173), Layton (#179), Leyton (#347), Lleyton (#996), Laiton (#1620) and Llayton (#3865) all combine together to sit at #86. Zac and Rowan also made big jumps into the top 100.
Alicia, Darcy, Macey, Aaliyah, Madeleine, Tegan, Amira and Amina made the biggest jumps into the top 100 for girls names.
