The groovy seventies!
The big hits in Scotland in 1975 followed a very similar pattern to the most popular name in 1950, but with a few distinct trends.
The most popular letter for boys was G with 13 different names: Gary, Gordon, Graeme, Graham, George, Grant, Gavin, Garry, Gerard, Greig, Gregor, Gerald and Greg.
The most popular letter for girls was L, also with 13 names: Louise, Lisa, Laura, Lynn, Lesley, Lorraine, Lorna, Lynne, Linda, Lynsey, Lee, Leigh and Lindsay.
According to the GRO, in 1975 32.6% of all boys, and 20.2% of girls, had a Top 10 name. Yet another reduction from 1900 and 1950.
