Edward maintained it's #1 rank for the third year running, while Margot knocked off Matilda for the top spot, shooting up from joint #12 in 2017. If we don't add variant spellings together, Edward and Henry rank at #1 equally, while Isabella, Matilda and Ottilie jointly rank at #2.
In a surprise fall, Charlotte has gone from second place in 2017, to joint seventeenth in 2018.
In total 358 boys' births and 325 girls' births were announced between January 1st 2018 - December 31st 2018 (a sadly decreasing number every year). I have added variant spellings together for these rankings, an individual breakdown of which is underneath the ranking table.
